Andrew Temby finished 5th in the 1989 Tea Tree Trophy, a mixture of Formula 2, Formula Holden and Formula 3000 vehicles (15 Laps). A fun time and experience at the 1989 AGP Adelaide Parklands Circuit. All drivers local and international were by invitation only .
Andrew was a a driver for AutoPacific Racing team. AutoPacific was a car body parts importer and wholesaler of panels to the Wrecking industry and Panel shops from 1983 to 1992.
Andrew can be spotted many times during the race, most notably at the first corner of lap one taking a short cut dodging a potential pile up . Famous Murray Walker makes comment in his usual high level excited state 'that Andrew Temby has gone over the ripple strip'. Keep your eye out for car 23 WREN F2 coloured mostly blue with some yellow tints on its wings.
Back in the day prize money was more a token. Andrew was excited to receive $ 200 from John Blanden, the Grand Prix Coordinator.
It was a mix of very different levels of performing cars and depth of wallets. Some teams were multi million dollar set ups .... we were the poverty pack who made it.
Have a nostalgic look and some popcorn and a fizzy drink!
